Recently, I had the absolute pleasure of working with little Advik during his 'Just Chilling' newborn session in my Trivandrum studio. Conceptualizing the 'Just Chilling' Theme

Meeting Advik's parents was the start of our adventure. Their request for a laid-back, cozy photoshoot reflecting their little one’s personality inspired me immediately. A 'Just Chilling' theme felt perfect. I envisioned capturing not just images, but also the essence of comfort and relaxation.

To stem from this idea, I brainstormed props and settings. My goal was to create a warm space where Advik could be portrayed both playfully and serenely. After deliberation, I settled on a mini armchair, a soft bathrobe, and a coffee cup. These props would not only add a whimsical touch but also tell a story that anyone can relate to—the cozy vibes of a relaxed day at home.

Prop Styling: Creating the Perfect Scene

With the concept solidified, I set to work styling the scene. The mini armchair, a delightful find from a local shop, was the ideal size for Advik. Its plush fabric and vibrant red color would brighten the images. I positioned it in a cozy corner of my studio, surrounded by soft beige blankets and multicolored cushions, making sure Advik had a comforting environment.

Next, I selected a fluffy bathrobe, draping it over the armchair to symbolize domestic warmth. This soft robe elicited feelings of comfort and home, perfectly aligning with the 'Just Chilling' theme.

To complete this inviting scene, I carefully placed a lightweight coffee cup on the floor near the armchair. It suggested a whimsical, playful narrative similar to those relaxing mornings that many families cherish. Ensuring safety, the cup was non-breakable, allowing me to maintain a secure setting around Advik.

Setting the Scene: Lighting and Composition

With the props arranged, I turned my attention to lighting and composition. A soft, dreamy atmosphere was essential to amplify the whimsical feel I desired. Natural light is my preference for newborn photography due to its gentle quality.

I positioned Advik’s mini armchair near a large window, letting in the soft, golden morning light. This setup provided a perfect backdrop for capturing the relaxed ambiance. Using reflectors, I bounced light to illuminate Advik’s delicate features in the most flattering way.
