As a photographer focusing on newborns, each session is a new adventure filled with excitement and creativity. Recently, I had the joy of capturing the delicate beauty of Baby Aria during a serene newborn photoshoot in Kochi. This experience was more than just snapping pictures; it was about creating a soothing environment where the baby and her family felt safe and cherished.

In this blog post, I will share my creative process, from setting up the studio to ensuring Baby Aria's comfort and safety, all while capturing her exquisite features in the blissful basket pose.

Setting the Scene

Before the session starts, I dedicate time to prepare the Click Me Happy studio. The atmosphere is vital for a successful newborn photoshoot. I aim to create a warm, inviting space that feels safe for the baby and calming for the parents.

I carefully choose a color palette that complements Baby Aria's delicate features. For this shoot, I picked a gentle blush pink backdrop, which highlights her fair skin, creating a dreamy effect.

The studio's temperature is also important. Newborns are sensitive to changes, so I maintain a cozy room temperature, usually around 75°F (24°C), keeping Baby Aria comfortable throughout the shoot.

The Blissful Basket Pose

A favorite pose of mine is the blissful basket pose. This classic style showcases the baby’s tiny features while providing a sense of security. I select a soft, woven basket that is both safe and comfortable for Baby Aria.

Inside the basket, I lay plush blankets and wraps, ensuring a soft cushion. The basket's setup aims to create an environment where she feels snug and secure, which is essential for successful shots.

When placing Baby Aria in the basket, I take great care to support her head and neck, and I always have a parent or assistant close by for an added layer of safety.

Lighting the Scene

Lighting is critical in newborn photography. I prefer natural light, as it creates a soft glow that enhances the baby's features. In the Click Me Happy studio, large windows let in ample sunlight. This natural light creates a wonderfully diffused effect that highlights Baby Aria’s delicate features.

To further manage the lighting, I use sheer curtains to soften the sunlight. Positioning the basket near the window ensures the light gently illuminates Baby Aria’s face. I also have reflectors ready to bounce light back onto her, ensuring that every angle shines beautifully.

Capturing the Moment

With everything set, it’s time to capture Baby Aria’s beauty. I allow her to settle into the basket and get comfortable. Patience is essential during a newborn shoot, as babies can be unpredictable.

Safety remains my top priority. I always have a spotter nearby to assist if Baby Aria needs repositioning or if she becomes fussy. Adjusting the schedule to allow breaks is vital. A relaxed environment helps the baby, as they pick up on the energy around them. I also play soft music in the background to soothe both Baby Aria and her parents, creating a peaceful atmosphere.

The Final Touches
